About
Born and raised in Norway, Erling Berg’s work is defined by a thoughtful interplay of form, scale, light, and materials. Guided by a rigorous, concept-driven approach, he creates distinctive architecture that balances clarity of expression with a deep sensitivity to its surroundings. His work is characterized by authentic materials, refined detailing, and a timeless simplicity that allows each space to feel both considered and enduring.
With an international body of work recognized by architecture and design publications worldwide, Berg brings a broad perspective and a meticulous design sensibility to every project. From 2015 to 2020, he worked as an architect, designer, and project manager at Mork Ulnes Architects in San Francisco and Oslo, contributing to projects shaped by the relationship between contemporary living, material integrity, and place.
From 2025 to 2026, Berg served as Design Director at Birdseye in Vermont, where he led the design of distinctive residences set within rural landscapes. In addition to directing architectural projects, he helped shape the studio’s creative direction, strengthening its approach to design, visual communication, and office standards.
Now based in Charlotte, Vermont, Berg leads his independent practice, collaborating with clients internationally to create thoughtful, enduring architecture rooted in place and purpose. His approach brings together conceptual rigor, functional intelligence, and an appreciation for the quiet power of simplicity—resulting in spaces that are both highly individual and deeply connected to the way people live.
Berg holds a Master of Architecture from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco (2015) and a Bachelor of Architecture from the Oslo School of Architecture & Design (2012).
